I am in the middle of reading a fascinating book titled 'Is Paris Burning ?'It tells the story of Paris's "longest week" - the week that ended with the day of liberation from the Nazi's. It is an absolute page turner and a must read for anyone visiting Paris. Just how close Paris came to complete destruction is revealed in this rivetting book.
I shot the above photos in Montmartre during the filming of the movie "La Rafle" set during World War II.

I came across this fake snow scene in the morning. It was created for a photo shoot using a snow machine. Shot in Montmartre near the Abbesses metro station.
This pretty 'snow woman' was made by my little friend Zelda (8 years of age) and I during the recent heavy snowfall in Paris. We were heading to the Louvre to continue with a project we are working on but the snow proved too tempting. I've never made a snowman before and Zelda was a wonderful teacher. She showed me how to roll the balls and shape and form them using a corn cob. I was the apprentice. Zelda should take all the credit for our snow woman's lovely form. We had a delightful time - oh the joys of children and childhood!

I am currently on a wonderful work assignment in Washington D.C. Nonetheless, when I came across this photo I took of a cafe in Montmartre it immediately filled me with nostalgia for my 'quartier'. Interestingly, the US capital was designed by a Frenchman and modelled on the city of Paris. It is so clean and green here and I love the squirrels and chipmunks running around everywhere.
